Synopsis
Armed with nothing but his shovel, a man faces the absurd: a mountain of sand that he must destroy to rebuild, again and again. Like Sisyphus, he finds himself trapped in the inevitable, a prisoner of time and his own thoughts. Through this monumental effort, Victor Pilon follows in the footsteps of Albert Camus’ work, exploring themes of grief, the absurd, and the search for meaning, offering a decidedly contemporary perspective on the ancient myth.
This mythological story, fueled by the timelessness and brutality of the themes it explores, deeply resonates with the contemporary human experience. It tells the tale of a man chained to a fate he can no longer control, one who, after becoming aware of the emptiness of his beliefs and the absurdity of his existence, persists nonetheless, shovel stroke after shovel stroke. In this endless quest, the work confronts us with our own humanity, our own fragility, and challenges us to consider the meaning we can still give to our efforts in a world often devoid of answers.
