Dreamscapes
Media installation in the Contemporary Art Square at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts
This 23-minute work immerses visitors in a series of different states of memory inspired by five stage creations, each evoked in 5 to 7 minutes. These are not recordings of performances filmed on stage, but rather visual and sound elements that were used in their creation, reworked in an original context and sequence.
This thematic, visual, and sound sequence forms a kind of poetic and immersive retrospective, both stimulating and calming. Visitors are immersed in a space of giant projections, both on the walls of the Contemporary Art Square and on a series of screens, which act as virtual doors creating a labyrinthine journey.
The excerpts that make up Dreamscapes come from the following performances:
Grand Hôtel des Étrangers 1994 – 1998
Orfeo 1998 – 2001
Delirium (Cirque du Soleil) 2006 – 2008
The Beauty and the Beast 2011
Icare 2014
